Whistler is one of the oldest
of the radar detector manufacturers, having entered the business in 1971. As
radar detector design and engineering became more technically challenging in the
1990s, they were one of the few to make the transition and survive. Many other
old names like Fuzzbuster, Fox, Snooper, Maxon, Gul and Uniden fell by the
wayside. Today, they focus on radar detectors in the mid-range performance area.
They’ve also diversified into other mobile electronic products like GPS
navigation and power inverters. Headquartered for most of their history in
Massachusetts, in recent years they’ve relocated to Bentonville, Arkansas. |
