Selectable Band Defeat

One way of dealing with false alarms is to simply turn off certain radar bands that
cops don’t use anymore in your particular area. For example, most of the radar
door openers at places like grocery stores and home centers use X band radar.
The police radar gun industry, however, largely got away from X band as they
made the transition to K band in the late 1970s and then to Ka band radar in the
early 1990s. In the areas we drive, for example, we haven’t run across a cop with
a X band gun in years. A detector that allows you to turn off X band, for
example, means you can enjoy blissful silence as you go past all those
annoying door openers, burglar alarms. etc.
